Colombian police captured neo-paramilitary commander “Codey” in Colombia’s eastern Vicheda department Tuesday, and claim that they are closing in on the drug kingpin and paramilitary leader, Pedro Olivero Guerrero, alias “Cuchillo.”
The captured boss, known only by his alias, “Codey,” was a commander of the paramilitary drug trafficking group, the Colombian Popular Anti-Terrorist Army (ERPAC) which is headed by Guerrero, reports W Radio.
Colombian NGO Nuevo Arco Iris reports that drug lord Pedro Oliverio Guerrero, alias “Cuchillo,” offers enticements such as drugs, alcohol and women, as well as large amounts of cash, to recruit members to his organization.
The Colombian government is offering a reward of COP5 billion ($2.5 million) for information leading to the capture of Cuchillo.
ERPAC is active in the Meta, Guaviare, Casanare, Guainia, Guaviare and Vichada departments in eastern Colombia, bordering Venezuela, and in March was added to the “Clinton list,” of individuals and companies forbidden from doing business in the U.S. or with American citizens.
The list was created by an executive order by former U.S. President Bill Clinton in 1995, to take action against foreigners who traffic in drugs and launder money. Those on the list are deemed threats to the security and economy of the U.S.
