Piedad Cordoba on Monday filed to undo the administrative act that barred her from her senate seat in 2010 for her alleged ties to guerrilla group FARC.
In front of the Council of the State, Cordoba’s attorney Diego Angulo filed for the cancellation of the Inspector General’s ruling that dismissed the former senator in 2010.
Her attorney cited the recent Supreme Court decision that evidence against former politicians accused of FARC politics obtained from the computer of dead FARC commander “Raul Reyes” is not admissible in court, as one of the reasons her seat should be re-imposed.
It is not known to what extent Inspector General Alejandro Ordoñez based his disciplinary ruling on findings in the guerrilla commander’s computer.
Criminal charges against all other former politicians for FARC politics have been dropped after the Supreme Court decision May 18, 2011. Cordoba’s is the only case still pending.
