Petro appoints fully emancipated Bogota district government

Mayor Gustavo Petro on Monday announced that half of the new Bogota district government will consist of women.

Of the 14 appointed executive officials, seven are men and seven are women.

Bogota Capital District government

Chief of Staff – Eduardo Noriega
Former director of the Colombian National Television Commission

Government Secretary – Antonio Navarro Wolff
Former M-19 guerrilla and governor of the southern Nariño department

Economic Development Secretary – Jorge Pulecio
Former economy professor at Spain’s National University

Health Secretary – Guillermo Jaramillo
Former senator and governor of the Tolima department

Environment Secretary – Margarita Florez
Attorney, former investigator at the Latin American Institute for an Alternative Society and an Alternative Law

Education Secretary – Oscar Gustavo Sanchez Jaramillo
Former adviser at the Ministry of Education

Transport Secretary – Ana Luisa Flechas
Former professor in mobility and transport at the National University in Bogota

Culture Secretary – Clarisa Ruiz Correal
Former Head of Arts at the Ministry of Culture of Colombia and cultural attaché in France

Housing Secretary – Maria Claudia Valencia Gaitan
Granddaughter of Jorge Eliecer Gaitan

Social Integration Secretary – Maria Consuelo Ahumada Beltran
