Ecotourism near Medellin – Parque los Tamarindos

Parque los Tamarindos is a natural park less than an hour from Medellin, where you can enjoy a relaxing day surrounded by nature and water.

Forty minutes by bus from Medellin, the park lies nestled in a little valley near San Jeronimo, where between 1000 and 3000 people per day seek refuge from the city’s noise, smog and heat.

Parque los Tamarindos, named after the local fruit tamarind, prides itself on preserving and enhancing ecological diversity. It has miles of well-maintained paths where guests can discover exotic trees and spot native birds.

After a hike through the forest, visitors can refresh themselves in one of the many swimming pools, revel in one of the four water slides or rent a boat to drift through a lazy river.

The water area is just one example of the many activities available in the park, such as a soccer field, volleyball court, guided tours, restaurants, cafes and a playground.

Parque los Tamarindos also offers children educational games while their parents may steam in the sauna and Turkish bath or enjoy a massage.

Admission to the park is $7. Massages are available from $22, sauna and Turkish bath are an additional $2.
