Wilson Bueno Largo, the guerrilla who escaped the FARC together with hostage Oscar Tulio Lizcano, got into trouble with French justice after falsely claiming he had been attacked.
The guerrilla, who was known under the alias ‘Isaza’, was allowed to leave Colombia and seek refuge in France after he helped Lizcano, a former Congressmen, escape captivity in 2008. In December of that year, the one-eyed guerrilla boarded the same plane as Ingrid Betancourt to start a new life in France and avoid retaliation by the FARC.
But according to the French news agency AFP, the guerrilla is now in trouble with French police after inventing that four hooded men had attacked him in his home in the west of the European country.
Police investigators who were put on the case were suspicious of the former guerrilla’s assault story and through extensive questioning found out that Bueno Largo had been lying.
Police sources told AFP that “he was depressed, had lost his papers, had drunk too much and invented the whole story.”
The local prosecutor decided not to press charges for making false statements against the former guerrilla.
