Demobilized paramilitary member Francisco ‘the Teacher’ Villalba,
famous for his expertise in the cruel torture and dismemberment of
alleged enemies, was assassinated in his Medellín home Wednesday.
The paramilitary was serving a 33-year prison sentence, but was allowed to serve his sentence at home after having spent eight years in jail.
Villalba had been part of the AUC’s Northern Bloc and was one of the perpetrators of massacres in El Aro and Ituango. He was considered one of the AUC’s experts on the dismemberment of bodies.
The former paramilitary made headlines again last year when he accused President Álvaro Uribe of involvement in the El Aro massacre. He later restracted his statement and apologized to the President.
