As of November 1 tourists will be able to travel freely between Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Chile with the elimination of visas, said the Mexican Ministry of Tourism Thursday.
The move to eliminate the need for visas when crossing borders was decided at a June summit in Chile and will involve all the Pacific Alliance countries, with Mexico also pushing for a single visa in the region.
“The good news is that for the first of November a visa won’t be required to travel between these countries,” said Gloria Guevara, the Mexican Tourism Secretary.
According to Guevara the move will boost tourism and business between the countries involved and is part of an effort to strengthen tourism as a whole in the area.
The countries also agreed to strengthen exchanges of information on the migration of criminals across the borders.
