U.S. President Barack Obama asked Congress Wednesday to promptly ratify the three pending free trade agreements, including one with Colombia.
Obama said that the FTA with Colombia is one of the many pending laws in Congress that could stimulate the U.S. economy once it is passed.
“Right now, Congress can advance a set of trade agreements that would allow American businesses to sell more of their goods and services to countries in Asia and South America. Agreements that would support tens of thousands of American jobs while helping them adversely affected by trade,” said Obama during a Wednesday afternoon press conference.
Obama also reiterated that the U.S. cannot solve it’s economic issues in one day, but that both Congress and the government can take certain steps to help it.
