An alleged FARC attack on a police patrol in the north of Colombia has killed one policeman and injured three others, local media reported Saturday.
The attack took place in Tibu, a municipality located in the troubles Catatumbo region on the Venezuelan border.
Authorities told media that members of the FARC’s 33rd front detonated a roadside bomb while police patrol was passing.
According to Caracol Radio, one of the injured policemen had to have his leg amputated while another hand to have part of his arm amputated.
Catatumbo, a crucial route for trafficking drugs to Venezuela, is one of the most violent regions in Colombia. Rebels carried out at least 147 attacks in the region so far this year.
