A farming community displaced three times has demanded protection for its recently returned land in the north of Colombia, Caracol Radio reported Monday.
The group of 123 families has recently returned to its land in Hacienda Las Pavas, south Bolivar, but according to one of its leaders, the community have received threats from several illegal armed groups.
The Colombian government vowed to form a new security body to provide protection in such instances, but for now the families are being protected by less than 20 policemen.
Meanwhile in Bogota, other spokespeople for the same community are petitioning the Ministry of Agriculture to return 11 further plots of land from which members have been displaced.
