One soldier has been killed and three have been injured in two separate alleged FARC attacks in the north of Colombia, local media reported Sunday.
According to the Army’s 4th Brigade, one soldier was killed in Toledo, a municipality in the north of the Antioquia department.
Guerrillas of the FARC’s 36th front detonated explosives that had been planted on a horse when an army patrol passed.
The explosion killed one soldier and injured one of his colleagues.
An bomb that was detonated near the city hall in El Tarra, a village near the Venezuelan border that has been under siege by FARC rebels for ten days, injured another two soldiers.
The Army said it was able to prevent four other bomb attacks in the south of the country while Cali Police claimed the arrest of the girlfriend of a FARC ringleader.
Earlier this weekend, FARC guerrillas carried out a 15-hour attack on a radar station south of Cali, resulting in the death of one policemen and a disruption of air traffic to Colombia’s third largest city.
