A magnitude 7.0 earthquake that shook Colombia’s southwest Saturday morning has left material damage, but no personal injuries, said President Juan Manuel Santos.
“Although it was felt strongly, we have no victims and the material damage is marginal,” Santos was quoted as saying by the presidential website.
Media from the Pasto and Popayan, cities within a hundred miles of the earthquake’s epicenter, also reported no major damage.

The earthquake was felt in neighboring countries like Ecuador and Peru.
The strong earthquake is the second in the region in half a year; in September last year, a M7.3 earthquake shook the city of Popayan.
