Nigerian kidnappers release Colombian and British hostages

Nigerian kidnappers have released one Colombian and three British oil workers they took hostage a week ago, local authorities announced on Monday.

According to a local police spokesman, the four hostages were released after the demanded ransom was paid.

Colombian Fabian Sanchez and UK citizens John Bennet, Kevin Gray and Martin Phillip were taken to local hospitals for a medical check up immediately after their release.

Foreigners in the oil-rich, but poverty-stricken African country are often a target for kidnappers.
