A Colombian victims advocacy group reported more threats by the paramilitary gang “Black Eagles,” against human rights advocates, public officials and other citizens in Cuaca.
Through leaflets distributed in Inza, Cauca, the Augilas Negras, or “Black Eagles”, identified and threatened several people, accusing them of being guerrilla collaborators, the Movement of Victims of State Crimes reported through VerdadAbierta.com.
In the leaflets, which surfaced November 28, the Black Eagles “threatened to kill 20 people, among them representatives of social organizations, teachers, buisnesspeople, and even members of the municipal government for collaborating as proxies with guerrilla fighters and their supporters.”
Experts say the Black Eagles are part of a resurgence of paramilitary activities in Colombia in recent months.
