Colombia seizes properties belonging to ‘Sweden’s Pablo Escobar’

Colombia’s narcotics department seized a number of properties allegedly belonging to a notorious drug lord known as the “Swedish Pablo Escobar.”

The police reported the seizure of nine properties in different regions of Colombia, all belonging to convicted Swedish drug trafficker Jonas Sture Oredsson.

Oredsson, 42, was involved in extensive international drug-trafficking operations. Under the facade of entrepreneurship, the Swede engaged in money laundering across Colombia. It is estimated  that Oredsson was responsible for smuggling of over a ton of cocaine from the Caribbean to Europe.

The Swede came to the attention of the police investigators due to his lavish lifestyle during his stay in Colombia.

“Jonah Sture Oredsson Falk posed to be an important businessman and one of his criminal facades to coordinate shipping tons of cocaine to Europe, was to travel to Colombia and Central America, on yachts, throwing parties with models and beauty queens, evading maritime control, both on domestic and foreign waters,” say police sources.

According to the authorities, the occupied goods are of a total worth of $4.969 millions and include a luxurious yacht as well as a tourist sailboat. Additionally, the police seized two high-class automobiles, an ATV, two farms in the Arjona municipality (Bolivar) and a truck.

Oredsson was caught by the national police department in the municipality of Girardot (Cudinamarca) in 2010.

Two days later, he was deported to Sweden where he had already been convicted of drug-related crimes.

However, a Swedish court acquitted the suspect of all charges in June, revoking his initial sentence of 18 years in prison.

The Swede remains in custody pending decision on potential extradition to Spain under an international warrant.

Oredsson’s exploits as a drug trafficker earned him the nickname “the Swedish Pablo Escobar”.
