Colombia news - Nacional

Both Atletico Nacional and Millonarios earned their second win of the season on Saturday, beating Junior and Boyaca Chico respectively.

Atletico Nacional jumped to fifth place in the Colombian Liga Postobon following a convincing 4-1 win over Junior in the city of Medellin.

Macnelly Torres put Nacional in the lead after just six minutes but had his opening goal canceled out by Luis Paez in the 21st.

Carlos Renteria then restored the advantage two minutes later and Junior’s resistance was broken when Torres netted his second in the 32nd minute. Edwin Cardona made it 4-1 with six minutes to go.

Junior were a man down for the final 15 minutes following a straight red card for John Viafara.

Millonarios hosted Boyaca Chico in Bogota and beat their guests 3-1. Edison Toloza and Alejandro Cichero scored in the opening half to hand Millonarios a 2-0 lead at half time.

Juan Mahecha then pulled one back near the hour, but Carlos Preciado made it 3-1 in the 72nd minute.

In Friday’s only game, Envigado beat Santa Fe 3-1 with goals from Neider Morantes (2) and Armando Carrillo. Sergio Galvan Rey scored for the visitors.

Sunday’s fixtures include the top clash between defending champions Once Caldas and vice-champions Deportes Tolima, to be played in the city of Ibague.
