Mimes and clowns come to town in Medellin for the 14th annual International Mime and Clown Festival “Mimame,” lasting from November 19 to 27.
“The Mimame Festival is an event for the city that will carry out performances of pantomime and physical theater with national and international artists in public spaces and theaters, facilitating access for young persons and students. Also, it will develop an important academic program that consists of workshops, conferences, lectures, and mime-videos for national actors and the general public,” the event website explains.
International artists included in the event come from as far as Germany, France, Spain, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Costa Rica, Argentina, Chile, and Australia.
The event kicks off Saturday, November 19 at 5:30PM at Parque de los Deseos, and throughout the week there will be performances all over the city, from Itagui to Cerro Nutibara, as local theaters come alive with the sound of laughter and the silence of miming.
Most performances are free, although some do request a public donation ranging between $3-5 dollars, and the entire event program is available online.
