Meteorologists say Bogotá mayor exaggerated rains

Colombia’s meteorological institute IDEAM says Bogotá mayor Samuel
Moreno exaggerated the amount of rain that fell on Bogotá and
completely disrupted the city Thursday.

The Mayor’s Office had said that on thursday morning an equal amount of rain came down in 45 minutes that normally falls in a month. Meteorological institute IDEAM says this is exaggerated.

According to IDEAM, 30 millimeters of water per minute fell  on Thursday morning and not the 73 millimeters teh Mayor’s Office had said.

The meteorologists say that it is more likely that the poor state of the city’s drains and sewers caused the floods than the amount of rain.
