A Medellin cat has adopted an approximately nine-day-old tiger cat that was found motherless just outside of Colombia’s second largest city.
According to local newspaper El Colombiano, the baby tiger cat was found near a garbage dump by one of the guards.
The guard handed the baby tigrillo over to the local Animal Welfare Foundation who found the orphan a new mother: a Medellin cat who recently gave birth to three kittens.
Animal Welfare Foundation director Amalia Vasquez told the newspaper that the mother cat immediately adopted the tiger cat as her own and allowed her new child to suckle just like her own kittens.
The tiger cat, considered a threatened species, will be taken away from his adoptive mother in two months when it is strong enough to be return to nature.
