An exhibition from the French Louvre museum is on display at the National Museum of Colombia until October 13th.
The Louvre sent 94 Greek ceramic pieces for the exhibition “Gods, myths and religions of ancient Greece,” which celebrates 190 years of the Bogota museum.
A total of 94 jars, plates and craters dating from between 500 and 300 BC will be available to view in the exhibition.
According to Anne Courie, the Louvre curator, the ceramic pieces are a “great way to not only get into mythology, but also daily life” of the ancient Greeks.
Among the pieces, visitors can learn about the God of war and justice, the representation of the birth of the Goddess Attena and Dionysis, the God of wine.
The national museum of Colombia and the Louvre have been working on this exhibition together for the last four years.
The two institutions have had a working relationship since 2007, when the national museum of Colombia hosted the temporary exhibition “Feeling to see: touch gallery Louvre museum in Bogota.”
