Three members of drug-trafficking gang ‘Los Rastrojos’ have been sentenced for the murder of an Ombudsman in Colombia’s central department of Antioquia.
Three men, aliases “pelo de loca”, “el juguero” and “la mascara” were found guilty of the murder of Jairo Luiz Alvarez Ruiz, an ombudsman of Segovia municipality. The three men shot Alvarez outside of his house on October 31, 2008.
The Ombudsman had, days before his murder, reportedly spoken out against “Los Rastrojos” for the recruitment of minors in the north-east of Antioquia.
The condemned men are currently being held in a Medellin jail and will find out the length of their sentences on 16 May.
