Colombia will denounce the FARC before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights for enlisting child soldiers, reported Caracol Radio Wednesday.
Guillermo Albert Gonzalez, governor of the Cauca department where the recruitment of indigenous minors reportedly took place, criticized NGOs that are active in the region for not responding to the alleged violation of humanitarian law by the guerrillas.
According to Gonzalez, there is photographic and video evidence of the FARC sending children into battle.
The press office of the Colombian army informed Friday that three former indigenous guerrillas had testified about the recruitment of children as young as 12 in the departments of Huila, Cauca and Valle del Cauca.
The FARC has frequently been accused of recruiting minors by both Colombian authorities and international organizations.
