Liga Postobon weekend preview

by Parker Crooks March 1, 2013
1.6K

Colombia football

Liga Postobon week five will continue with Deportivo Pasto fighting to hold on to first place, and inter-city rivals Deportivo Independiente Medellin and Envigado FC, battling for a needed win.

Week five began on Wednesday with Bogota’s Independiente Santa Fe winning, tying them for the moment with Pasto in first place.

Pasto will host a demoralized Deportes Tolima team that lost in their heavily favored Copa Libertadores match earlier this week. A Pasto win will hold them strong at first place and a tie will leave them no worse off then they are now – tied for first with Santa Fe.

Envigado FC, from the town just minutes south of Medellin, Antioquia will host cross-town rival Deportivo Independiente Medellin on Sunday afternoon in what should be an exciting match. Envigado will be without two injured midfielders, Matheus Uribe who is out 10 days because of a left leg injury, and Jonny Mosquera.

Both teams have only one win on the season and will need another this week to stay in the run.

The Millionarios of Bogota will try to rebound from last week’s loss against a weak Boyaca Chico FC, while Atletico Nacional will try to remain without a loss against Deportes Quindio.
