Colombia news - Ariel Carreño

It was a good week for Bogota clubs as all teams from the capital city won their games in the Colombian Liga Postobon.

Action began on Saturday with Millonarios earning a 1-0 victory in a home match with Deportivo Cali. The only goal of the match came from Omar Vazquez in the 44th minute.

In the day’s other game, Once Caldas won 1-2 at Envigado with goals from Dayro Moreno and Oswaldo Viscarrondo.

On Sunday, Independiente Santa Fe were the better side in an away match at America de Cali and won 1-2. Julio Gutierrez scored in the 17th minute and Omar Perez did so in the 59th. Edison Toloza netted a consolation goal for America late on.

Santa Fe continue to share their lead with Cucuta Deportivo, who beat Deportivo Pereira 1-2 with two goals from Wilson Carpintero, the latter of which from the penalty spot.

One of the highlights of the week occurred in Bogota where La Equidad beat defending champions Junior 1-0 to take revenge for last June’s Liga Postobon final. Moreover, the winning goal came from Ariel Carreño after just seven seconds, making it the fastest ever in Colombian league history.

In Sunday’s other games, Deportes Tolima beat Deportes Quindio 2-0 while Cortulua and Atletico Huila held each other to a 1-1 draw. Real Cartagena and Boyaca Chico forgot to score and drew 0-0.

Although only two games are played, Cucuta, Santa Fe, Once Caldas, Deportes Tolima, Boyaca Chico, Millonarios, Junior and La Equidad are currently on course for the next round.
