Libya violence ‘unacceptable’: Santos

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos condemns the events in Libya, where ruler Muammar Gaddafi is attempting to violently suppress a popular uprising.

“What is happening in Libya is unacceptable. We condemn the way the population of this country is acted against,” Santos Tweeted, without explicitly mentioning Gaddafi.

Following days of unrest and a violent reaction by state forces to curb protest against the 42-year rule of Gaddafi, international media report that at least 300 people have died in the North African country.
