Colombian cyclist Leonardo Duque shows to be in good shape at the start
of the new season. The rider currently occupies the fifth position in
the Tirreno-Adriatico.
This Italian race is one of a few popular and important races used to prepare for the season, and gives both sprinters and climbers a chance to show their skills.
Duque, who rides for French team Cofidis, finished eighth in the opening stage on Wednesday and came in 11th a day later. In the overall classification, the Colombian trails leader Julien El Fares by 25 seconds.
The 28-year-old sprinters from Cali first began to do well in Grand Tours in 2006, but really broke through a year later when he won a stage in the Vuelta a España and finished third in another.
In 2008, Duque rode the Tour de France and finished fourth in the Points Classification.
