Lawmaker convicted for parapolitics

Former congressman Carlos Clavijo was sentenced to three years and seven months jail for having had ties with right wing paramilitary groups.

Clavijo had replaced fellow Convergencia Ciudadana Representative Rocio Arias in congress after she was suspended for her parapolitics investigation. Arias is now also serving time.

The lawmaker had admitted his ties to the AUC during his trial before an Antioquia court.
