Two politicians who together with 18 others were kidnapped on Tuesday in the southwest of Colombia were released by their kidnappers on Sunday.
The two were the last of the group to be released after alleged FARC rebels released the others hours after the kidnapping just off the Pacific coast of the Nariño department.
One of the released politicians, a mayoral candidate, told Caracol Radio that their kidnappers never identified themselves as part of an illegal armed group and, before releasing them, said the kidnapping had been an error.
According to authorities, members of the group of 18 that were released earlier had testified that the kidnappers had identified themselves as members of the FARC.
Authorities would not give details on where the two men were found after their release.
