Colombian Nhora Valentina Muñoz spoke of her joy at being reunited with her parents in her first public appearance since the end of her 19-day kidnap ordeal on Monday.
In a press conference with El Espectador, Caracol TV and Caracol Radio on Tuesday she said, “I spent a happy night … and I am still very happy to be at the side of my parents and my friends.”
The 10-year-old also said her kidnappers had not mistreated her. She said, “We ate well, it was normal food every day, they didn’t do me any harm, they treated me well.”
She added, “What I missed most was my friends and my parents, because I share a lot with them.”
The girl’s father and mayor of the town of Fortul, Jorge Enrique Muñoz, said his daughter arrived in good condition apart from a few mosquito bites.
Her mother, Pilar Gutierrez added that she was going to try and find a way to personally thank the Pope for his speeches and petitions for her release.
The girl was reunited with her family on Monday evening hours after a Red Cross delegation picked her up in a municipality on the Venezuelan border.
The Colombian army blames guerrilla group FARC for the kidnapping. The guerrillas have vehemently denied involvement in the kidnapping.
