Is Falcao leaving Manchester United?

A curious tweet sent Monday by Colombia’s Radamel Falcao, has given rise to rumors that the soccer star will be leaving Manchester United at the end of the current season, rumors vehemently denied by the club.

Demise or super striker? Falcao misses more Colombia games as injury woes continue

After a troubled first season during which the striker spent most of the time on the bench, Falcao took to Twitter to thank his fans.

“Many thanks for the incredible support from @ManUtd fans during the whole season. Unforgettable,” read Falcao’s tweet, implying that an end to his relationship with Manchester United was in sight.

Falcao has had mixed success with Manchester United this season, with Falcao at times publicly complaining of a lack of playing time and hinting at demanding a trade.

His interactions with coach Louis Van Gaal have at times been somewhat rocky as a result. Falcao himself once mentioned that their relationship was “difficult to classify”, a statement that can only be interpreted as less than positive.

Van Gaal has sought to dispel rumors surrounding Falcao’s future by asserting that no decision has been made and that “at the end of the season we will decide.”

Many have also claimed that Falcao’s tweet was simply a thank-you to all Manchester United fans and was not meant to be interpreted as a comment on the future of his career.

Despite his struggles in the Premier League and with Manchester United, Falcao continues to enjoy considerable success and support from the Colombian national team, suggesting there is likely still a home for Falcao in Colombian soccer.

Argentine coach Jose Pekerman has also reaffirmed on numerous occasions that Falcao’s position on the national team is secure.
