Colombia’s 400m Olympic runner Diego Palomeque was banned for two years after testing positive for testosterone Sunday.
Diego Palomeque, was excluded from the Olympics as a second urine sample tested positive for unnatural testosterone levels.
Echavarria, 18, had been provisionally suspended on 4th August having “provided a urine sample on 26th July in London that tested positive for tesosterone,” said the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The men’s 400m athlete is the 12th athlete to be sent home for failing a drugs test since the start of the Olympic period on July 16th, while more than 115 athletes tested positive for banned substances in the three month run-up to the games according to news agency Reuters.
The Colombian faces a maximum two-year ban as it is a first offense.
The IOC has conducted more than 5,000 drugs tests since the beginning of the games.
