International Jazz Festival is the bee’s knees in Bogota

Jazz musicians from all over the world make their way to Bogota for their yearly International Jazz Festival, held this year from September 1-10 at the Teatro Libre in the Colombian capital.

The Bogota International Jazz Festival is considered to be one of the biggest, most important, and well respected jazz events in Latin America. Beginning in 1988, the Teatro Libre has united the best Colombian jazz musician as well as stars from abroad.

This year North American musicians include Terence Blanchard, Billy Branch, Greg Diamond, the Le Chat Lunatique band, and Bettye LaVette. Others first-class jazz stars include Roberto Fonseca from Cuba, Italian Luigi Cinque, Sebastian Schunke from Germany with French quartet Karlos Rotsen, as well as Colombian Justo Almario accompanied by the Cartagena Big Band. The festival will also include various musical workshops with the featured artists.
