The International Jazz Festival will be taking place in Bogota from September 3 – 14 as it celebrates 25 years of performances.

The celebration, which is organized by the Free Theater Foundation of Bogota, is expected to attract up to 10 thousand visitors over the 11 day period.

Jazz in Bogota is nothing new as the city embraces its international reputation for jazz festivals. The International Jazz Festival is one of several jazz festivals that appear on Bogota’s calendar every year and is celebrating 25 years of production.

Jazz is also having a positive effect on Colombia’s economy as jazz artists play in multiple venues across cities throughout the country. By making more festivals available to more spectators, jazz is leading both a musical and economical revolution.

Young local talent will be performing at the festival in the second week on both Tuesday and Wednesday, featuring several youth bands from Colombia and Bogota.

On Saturday night the famed Cuban saxophonist Paquito D’Rivera will be playing with Brazilian Trio Corrente at the Bogota Free Theatre’s Chico room. They will be performing a mix of classic and contemporary jazz over the course of the evening.
