Colombia’s Transport Ministry announced on Tuesday that international carriers Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines and Emirates Airlines will be initiating service in Colombia
The ministry’s flights official, Fernando Sanclemente, said that a bilateral agreement has already been reached with Singapore Airlines and that similar agreements with Emirates Airlines and German carrier Lufthansa are expected to follow shortly.
According to Sanclemente, the airlines will initially be concerned with transportation of cargo, rather than passengers, but that the introduction of services by the three airlines represents an important step in Colombia’s flight market.
The ministry official went on to announce that Colombian airline Avianca will be resuming direct flights between Bogota and Frankfurt, Germany, which were suspended in January 2001.
