800 members of several of Colombia’s indigenous peoples started a search
Monday to find the bodies of the eight indigenous Awá people who were
killed by the FARC.
According to Luis Andrade Evelis, chairman of the National Indigenous Council, the search party is joined in this new “Minga Indígena”by members of international human rights organizations.
The FARC admitted having murdered eight Awá earlier this year, but the indigenous say sixteen more of their people are missing.
The search party will search the area in the southern Nariño department where the guerrillas allegedly were murdered. Authorities so far found only one body.
