Ibáñez voted new President of Supreme Court

Augusto Ibáñez was voted the new President of the Supreme Court of
Justice. He will replace Alvaro Orlando Pérez, who retired for health
reasons.

Ibáñez was previously an advisory to the House of Representatives and a judge of the Bogotá Supreme Court.

The Boyacá native was also a law professor at Santo Tomás University and specialized in criminal law and criminology.

His election was a surprise, according to Caracol Radio, as he was not a favorite for the position.
