Hours before his expected extradition to the U.S., former DMG director David Murcia reaffirmed his political aspirations and said he will be proved innocent of the charges against him.
In an interview with Caracol Radio Murcia affirmed that his name will be cleared and he plans to run for Colombian President.
Murcia said that his extradition to face charges of money laundering for drug traffickers is a case of double jeopardy because he has already been convicted in Colombia.
However he said he was unconcerned about his imminent extradition because “when I get to the United States they will declare me innocent and I will not serve time in the North American justice system, because I don’t have paramilitary ties, nor did I launder money for anybody, which I will prove when I get there,” Murcia said Wednesday.
Murica has said on numerous occasions that he is favor of being extradited as he claims he was not given a fair trial in Colombia.
The alleged money launderer reiterated that he did not have ties to the paramilitary or drug traffickers and denied having opened U.S. bank accounts to launder money.
Murcia said that investors in DMG “have not lost their money” because he was investing in new business ventures in order to recoup losses.
Hundreds of thousands of Colombians are estimated to have lost their life savings after the government shut down the company and arrested all its executives.
Murcia and his former associate William Suarez are in a Boyaca prison awaiting extradition.
