Colombian police arrested 69 people allegedly involved in human trafficking, local media reported Tuesday.
The Police have been investigating the human trafficking network since July 2008 after a woman reported being victim of sexual abuse.
The criminals lured the women, who are between 18 and 25 years old, with job advertisements requiring women sizes 6 or 8, preferably single with no children, available immediately for full-time work in luxury restaurants and nightclubs in Medellin.
Once they accepted the “job” many of them were transferred to Cartagena, Santa Marta, Cucuta, Bucaramanga, Barrancabermeja or Bogota where they were sexually exploited.
Colombian Prosecution issued arrest warrants for 12 more human traffickers affiliated with the network, according to El Espectador.
