Colombia news - Huila win

Atletico Huila added yet another victory to their palmeres and maintain
their comfortable Copa Mustang II lead. Santa Fe were held to a
goalless draw at Pereira.

At Cucuta, Huila needed just five minutes for Lucumi Guaza to open the score and Ervin Gonzalez doubled the advantage in the 56th minute. Edinsson Pinzon pulled one back for Cucuta in the 73rd minute but it wasn’t enough for the home side to avoid defeat.

Pereira and Santa played out a 0-0 stalemate at Hernan Ramirez Villegas stadium, which leaves the home side in 14th place while Santa Fe remain close to the top, in third position.

Atletico Junior did well to earna 5-2 win over Deportivo Cali with goals from Anchila Orozco (2), Hernando Patiño and Carlos Bacca (2). Danny Aguilar and Luis Valencia scored for the guests. Junior are now fifth on the table while Cali are to be found in tenth place.

La Equidad hosted Boyaca Chico at El Techo and the two sides held each other to a 1-1 draw. Miguel Caneo put Chico ahead after just four minutes but Stalin Motta equalized eight minutes after the interval.

Deportes Tolima are close to the top eight after a 2-1 win over champions Once Caldas. The Manizales outfit did score the opener through Carlos Diaz in the ninth minute but Dario Bustos (20th) and Milton Rodriguez (77th) went on to turn things around.

In Sunday’s remaining match, Quindio beat Pasto 2-1 with goals from Dany Santoya and Carlos Rodas, who scored two minutes into added time. Hugo Centurion netted Pasto’s only goal in the 23rd minute.

Based on the current standings, Huila, Medellin, Santa Fe, Nacional, Junior, Millonarios, Cartagena and La Equidad would advance to the group phase at the end of the season.
