A hip hop festival, “Hip Hop at the Park,” is kicking off this weekend in Bogota, Colombia, featuring MCs from around the country and international acts from Cuba, Chile and the United States. The event will also feature hip hop culture, bringing together break dancers, street artists and DJs, for a full Colombian hip hop experience.
The free-entry festival will take place in Bogota’s largest park, Simon Bolivar Metropolitan Park, over Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 26th and 27th, 2013.
Colombian hip hop artists at the show include Superanfor, Bajo Estilo, FM Hip Hop, and Malu 2 Eskinas.
From the United States, the festival is bringing in hip hop pioneers, known for their outspoken political rhymes and high energy live performances, Public Enemy.
The show will also feature a performance from Danay Suarez, “the exquisite voice of conscious feminine hip hop from Cuba.”
Festival organizers, representing Bogota’s District Institute of Art, wrote on the festival’s website: “The festival promotes changes in the behavior and attitudes of city inhabitants, strengthening feelings of belonging, coexistence, peace, reconciliation, and collective enjoyment.”
