Five people were taken to hospital Saturday after a grenade exploded in a shopping mall in Colombia’s third largest city Cali.

The explosion took place little after 5PM on the third floor of the shopping mall located in the west of the city.

Cali police commissioner General Miguel Angel Bojaca told local newspaper El Pais the grenade was thrown at a money exchange office and a pamphlet was found “with a message for alias ‘Chocolate’ or ‘Luker’, a drug trafficker who was arrested in the past few days … Because of this we realize that there will be retaliations against these establishments.”

The pamphlet accuses “Chocolate” of having made confessions to the police that may lead to the arrest of other members of drug trafficking organizations, said Bojaca.

According to Medellin newspaper El Colombiano, Cali authorities have offered a $28,000 reward for information leading to the perpetration of the attack.

Chocolate was arrested in Cali in the beginning of June and is accused of being the leader of the hitmen of Los Rastrojos, one of Colombia’s most powerful drug gangs.
