Local police say 12 people, including children and a pregnant woman, were injured by the explosion of a grenade launched at a police post in Tumaco, a port city in southwestern Colombia.
“Two people (who were) on a motorcycle threw the grenade,” said Tumaco police commander, Colonel Gustavo Martinez.
The injured were rushed to a local hospital and of the 12 patients treated, seven were under the age of 18. Another of the wounded was a pregnant woman with pelvic pain, according to reports from Colombia’s El Espectador newspaper on Thursday morning.
No-one has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks, which occurred in the Panama neighborhood, one of the most populated parts of Tumaco.

Tumaco, a port town, is home to a number of illegal armed groups because of the municipality’s strategic location on the Pacific coast. Apart from leftist rebel groups like the FARC and ELN, the group reportedly is home to neo-paramilitary groups such as Los Rastrojos.
