The Colombian government and court workers union Asonal have reached a
preliminary agreement after talking for more than seven hours Monday night.
If the union members agree with the deal the 42-day strike that
paralyzed the country’s judicial system will come to an end.
The Government promised an extra 150 billion pesos (US$ 75 million) to increase the wages of the approximately 40,000 court workers, prosecutors and judges.
Asonal will have a meeting with their members Tuesday afternoon to defend the government proposal. If the members of the union accept the offer, they will go back to work.
