Colombian soccer player Freddy Guarin has completed his transfer to Italian giants Inter Milan.
The 25-year-old midfielder moved from Portugal’s FC Porto on an initial six-month loan, costing $2 million, with the option to purchase him for a further $14 million at the end of this period.
The player expressed his delight via Twitter, saying, “One day I thought, one day I dreamed, and one day I got it.”
The transfer may signify a coming of age for a player who was hotly tipped during his early career to move to one of Europe’s bigger clubs.
When he eventually left Colombian side Envigado in 2007, it was for French team Saint-Etienne.
A year later Guarin went to play for Porto, Portugal’s most successful team, where he gradually became an important first team player, winning nine trophies, including two league titles and the 2011 Europa League.
Inter Milan coach Claudio Ranieri recently said, “Guarin is a player I like, he has very good qualities and skill and I think he can bring a lot to the team.”
