Colombians working in the national oil and gas sector received wages 56% lower than foreigners in 2011, according to a report by Hays Oil & Gas and Oil and Gas Job Search.
According to the report, Colombians earn an average salary of $69,000 while workers from abroad earn an average of $122,600.
The report also found that the 73% of the workforce in the Colombian oil and sector are nationals and 27% are from overseas.
The average salary across the 53 countries and 14,400 workers surveyed for the report stood at $80,500, a 6% increase on the 2010 figure.
Brazil stands out in South America as the country with the highest average wage for its nationals and as the only oil producing nation in the region where national earn more than non-nationals, $119,600 compared to $106,700.
