Floods in the northeastern Colombian Cordoba department affected more than 200 families.
The intense rain that engulfed the region caused the Ure river to swell and burst its banks near the town of San Jose de Ure, causing damage to property and farmland and sweeping away pets.
The authorities’ initial estimates put more than 200 families suffering damages to their properties and homes.
The civil defense and municipal authorities are working to help the victims and establish the extent of the damage.
The community will have to batten down the hatches as thunderstorms are forecast for at least the next two days, current satellite photos of weather patterns in the tropical Atlantice region can be seen here.
