Colombia’s Supreme Court Wednesday closed the investigation into
Senator Gloria Ines Ramirez’ alleged FARC links for lack of evidence, local media reported.
The Prosecutor General’s Office had accused Ramirez of ‘FARC-politics’ one year
ago because her name appeared in computer documents the Colombian government claims to were found on computers of slain FARC commander ‘Raul
Reyes’.
After analyzing the emails between Ramirez and ‘Raul Reyes’, judge Julio Socha Salamanca, president of the Criminal Division of the
Supreme Court, said that there is no evidence which could proof a possible
link of the Senator and the guerrilla leader.
Socha confirmed that Ramirez actually met with FARC members
but all meetings were approved by government officials and took place in peace
dialogues between various state institutes and the FARC.
The Senators Wilson Borja and Piedad Cordoba are also
investigated for alleged ‘FARC-politics’.
