An exhibited copy of the first edition of Gabriel Garcia Marquez’ “100 Years of Solitude” has been stolen from the Bogota Book Fair, organizers said.
The copy had been lent to the acclaimed book fair for an exhibition dedicated to the life and work of Colombia’s most famous ever writer who died a year ago.
However, organizers told Spanish news agency EFE that the copy has disappeared from the biggest book fair in the country.
“We regret to confirm the theft,” an organizer told EFE.

The 48-year-old copy was one of 8,000 of that were initially printed by Editorial Sudamericana.
First edition copies of the book that helped Garcia Marquez receive a Nobel Prize in 1982 are worth at least $2,000 on the internet.
