Colombia’s government has released the locations of the demobilization zones and “normalization camps” for leftist FARC guerrillas who last week vowed to demobilize and disarm.
These temporary zones will be created in rural areas away from the civilian population in a little more than 30 municipalities throughout Colombia.

For six months after the signing of final peace deal, expected within months, these camps will be home to the 6,000 to 20,000 FARC members, a minority of whom would be armed.
After these six months, all FARC members should have handed in their weapons to UN observers and be taking part either in reintegration programs or court cases. At this point, the FARC will formally cease to exist as a guerrilla group and be transformed to an unarmed political movement.
