The FARC said Wednesday it is ready to proceed with the promised release of five hostages, but is waiting to receive security protocols from the government.
In a press release, sent to Venezuelan television network TeleSUR, the guerrillas say the diffusion of these security protocols is important, “because the army has intensified its operations in these areas.”
In the security protocols, the government promises to suspend military activity in the areas of the hostage releases for 36 hours, allowing the operations to go smoothly.
Earlier Wednesday, mediator Piedad Cordoba said she is still waiting for the FARC to deliver the coordinates of the hostage releases that were promised on December 8.
